Free Level 3 Electrical Installation Advanced Technical Diploma in Chatham. Classes run at MidKent College Medway Campus, full-time during the day. This electrical installation advanced technical diploma course builds on Level 2 study, taking your knowledge and practical skills to an advanced level. You'll cover electrical science, inspection and testing, fault diagnosis and rectification, and installation design. Entry requires a Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installation at Merit grade, plus Maths and English at Grade 4 or equivalent. GCSE Science at Grade 4 is advisable but not essential. City and Guilds Advanced Technical Diploma in Electrical Installation (450) with certificate.

Who this course is for

This programme is a natural progression for anyone who has completed the Level 2 in Electrical Installation qualification and is the next step towards becoming a qualified Electrician.

Students will gain an increased level electrical knowledge and skills, with an advanced understanding of electrical science, inspection & testing procedures, fault diagnosis and rectification, and installation design.

The following areas are assessed by an exam and a synoptic assignment:

  • inspection and testing theory and practical
  • principles of electrical science
  • fault finding
  • wiring regulations
  • planning
  • electrical design.

Entry requirements

L2 Diploma in Electrical Installation at Merit grade and Maths and English at Grade 4 / equivalent Grade C or above.

GCSE Science at grade 4 would be advisable, but is not essential.

Both assessment methods are set by City and Guilds.
