If you are fascinated by tourism and travel, seeing different places and meeting new people, this course is a great insight into the industry.
Our lecturers have diverse experience of working within these areas and can offer high levels of expertise and knowledge of the content, as well a preparing you for a range of exciting career options.
In addition, this course offers strong links and opportunities with desirable employers such as British Airways, Swissport, Barrhead Travel and Jet2.
If you are aged 16 to 18, you will be enrolled on a study programme. This will include retaking GCSEs or undertaking Functional Skills in English and maths if you haven't already achieved a grade 4 or above. You will take part in activities that help you to develop your personal skills, such as building your character and confidence. This will help you to live well and move into your chosen career.
If you are 16-19 years old these activities will be timetabled as will work experience and placement. You can also choose to take part in other activities. For other age groups, activities will be tailored to your needs.
Entry to this course requires one reference, 95% attendance at your last place of work or study, and 5 GCSEs including English and maths at grade 4 (C) or above.
A level 2 diploma in Travel and Tourism is also desirable, but not essential.

What you could study next
If you want to go further, you can top up to the Pearson Edexcel BTEC National Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism in year two at Leicester College. This is the fuller qualification many universities accept for travel, tourism, or hospitality degree courses. You could also move into an apprenticeship in travel services or hospitality management at Level 3.
