About this course

Free Level 2 Entry to the Uniformed Services Course in Chatham. Classes run at MidKent College Medway Campus, full-time during the day.

The course covers the roles of public services in society, health and fitness, teamwork, the law, and map reading and navigation. You'll take part in visits, outdoor exercises, and residential activities alongside classroom study. Entry requires four GCSEs at grade D/3 or above, including English or maths. The course runs for one year.

You'll finish with an NCFE Level 2 Diploma for Entry to the Uniformed Services.

Who this course is for

This programme will help prepare you for a wide range of exciting career paths.

You will learn about the work of various public services and their roles in society, and you will also complete units including health and fitness, adventurous activities, teamwork, the law, and improve your map reading and navigation skills too. Although the majority of study is theory, the course is designed to be as practical as possible and will include a number of visits and outdoor exercises as well as residential expeditions You will be assessed through written assignments and practical work, and will also be required to compile a portfolio of evidence All students will continue studying English and maths until they are 19, or until they have achieved a Grade C/4. Your study programme will incorporate a work placement in a role relevant to your study. All students will have access to a Personal Tutor to support their personal and professional development.

Four GCSEs at grade D/3 or above, including English or maths at grade D/3 or above.
