About this course

Free BTEC Level 2 Art and Design Course in Burnley. Classes run at Burnley College, full-time during the day.

The course is free for learners aged 16 to 18 years old. You'll explore drawing and image-making, 3D sculpture, and digital communication. Projects are built around current themes, taking you from initial research through to a finished piece. You'll work with tutor-led and live briefs, developing your creative ideas and technical skills over the year.

You'll finish with a Pearson Edexcel BTEC Diploma in Art and Design Skills.

Who this course is for

Refine your skills and develop your Art practice further. You will be given an introduction to a range of specialist techniques and will learn how to develop creative ideas, skills and intentions in response to tutor-led and live briefs, gaining an understanding of the creative process from research to realisation. This course explores experimental and creative methods within Drawing and Image, 3D sculpture and digital communication. Themes are current and engaging on the projects, building upon life skills and work experiences. The course will also involve working on self-initiated projects across a range of disciplines, enabling you to develop your strengths within all subject areas. Assessment is via coursework and practical assessment throughout the academic year. This is the perfect course to develop your skills and knowledge to progress onto a Level 3 creative course.

Entry requirements

3 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including Art & Design, or a relevant Level 1 qualification. You will also need a portfolio of work to present at interview.
